FAQ

Q. What do I need to bring for my vacation?
A. You need to bring bed linens, or sleeping bags, towels for personal use & swimming, & your food.  We supply pillows with pillow slips, and blankets or comforters. If you prefer, for a small fee, your linens can be supplied... Click here for a printable checklist of things to bring!


Q. What are the cottages equipped with?
A. All cottages are equipped with refrigerator, propane cook stove, microwave oven, toaster, coffee maker or coffee pot, coffee filters, pots, pans, cutlery, cooking utensils, cheese grater, dishware, tea towels, dish soap, toilet paper, garbage bags.

** Cozy log cabins use a community bathroom and shower, do not have microwave.


Q. Can I bring my pet?
A. Yes, with the exception of Pit Bulls and other aggressive types of dog. Your pets must be people- and pet- friendly. All pets must be leashed when walking, tied while outside at your cabin, and under the control of a responsible person. You must "stoop and scoop" for your pet. Pets are not to be left unattended, whether inside the cottage or outside. There is a fee of $35.00 weekly or $5 daily for each pet.


Q. Are friends allowed to visit me during my stay?
A. Yes, of course. Visitors who come for the day are charged a daily fee of $5 per person or $20 per family, whichever is the lesser amount. Visitors who stay overnight are charged the nightly rate as per cottage rate.


Q. Can I bring my own boat?
A. Of course you can. Each cottage has one dock or one side of a dock, depending on the cottage size and capacity. There is no additional charge for your boat to dock.


Q. Can I plan my vacation for less than one week?
A. Yes, with the exception of the months of July and August. On holiday weekends, including Victoria Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas, you will be charged for a minimum of 3 nights.


Q. Where can I shop in the area?
A. Marten River offers Trapper Trading Post with groceries, LCBO outlet, Gas, Propane exchange, Gift shops, and Restaurant. There is also Timberlane Shop/Post Office. For major grocery store, we would recommend a half-hour trip to North Bay.

 

Q. Where can I eat in the area?
A. Rock Pine Restaurant is close by. Also Trapper's Snack Shack offers chips, burgers, chicken wraps and more.

 

Q. How far is the hospital from Beaverland?
A. The North Bay General Hospital is approximately 30 minutes. Ambulance is available through our 9-1-1 area service. Walk-in clinics in are also available in North Bay for non-emergency services. (Also See our Health services page.)


Q. What is there to do in the area?
A. Visit the Logging Museum in the Marten River Provincial Park and step back in time. The  Temagami Fire Tower offers a bird's eye view from atop a fire ranger's tower. Also visit the North Bay and Sturgeon Falls Museums; Dionne Quints Museum; cruise Lake Nipissing on the Chief Commanda (also offers dinner cruises with entertainment; live theatre at Capitol Centre and Nipissing Stage Company summer theatre; excellent Golf Courses; Lake Nipissing Waterfront with Heritage Carousel and Mini-Train; the popular World's Largest Book Store in Cobalt, and much more.


Q. How do I reserve a cottage?
A. Reservations can be made by calling our  toll-free number 1-888-892-2224 with your credit card number. You may pay your deposit of approximately 1/3 your total immediately, or leave your credit card number, then send a cheque or money order in the mail within 7 business days. Reservations can only be made accompanied by a deposit.


Q. How can I pay for my vacation?
A. We accept MasterCard, VISA, Interac and cash. Sorry, NO cheques accepted for final payment. Payment with US currency is given a fair exchange rate. We recommend that you exchange US currency at a border crossing or at a bank for the best rate.


Q. What if I must cancel my vacation?
A. Cancellation Policy: non-refundable deposit may be applied to alternative date during the same year (one time only)

Q. What documents do our American guests require to return to the USA?

Q. How do I rent a boat if I don't have my Pleasure Operator's Card?
A. You can still rent our boats with your completed Boat rental agreement, approved by NOTO and accepted by Federal regulators. USA boat operators cards also accepted.

Q. Can I do laundry at the camp?
A. Yes, Beaverland is pleased to offer a courtesy washer & dryer for guests only.


Q. Can I bring fireworks to the camp?
A. Sorry,  NO fireworks are permitted at the camp at any time.
